Work Permit Application for Overseas Employers & Secondments

Work Permit are issued to a non-citizen to be employed by a locally established business, organization or institution. This section gives you an overview on how to apply for a work permit for overseas employers and secondments.

IMPORTANT:

  • Employer, organisation and institution sponsoring non-citizen to work in Fiji are to ensure that all mandatory requirements for permit applications are submitted.
  • Non-submission of any of the required documents can be grounds to decline or refuse, permit applications.
  • Employment contract which includes all non-negotiable condition is a mandatory requirement. A standard sample of employment contract in accordance to the Fiji Labour laws is available on the Fiji Immigration website.
  • Employer is responsible for returning foreign workers to home country as covered in the repatriation clause of the employment contract.
  • Employers to provide evidence that content of the employment contract is understood by the foreign worker and signed by both parties.
  • Change of employment while in country is not permitted unless approve by the Immigration Department.
  • Employers to ensure applicant’s passport is valid for the duration of permit. Application with less than 6 months passport validity will not be accepted.
  • Secondment – Employers to ensure secondment letter signed by the parent company is submitted with the application.
  • Voluntary arrangements – Organisation or company to provide letter of engagement with the application
Eligibility
  • Application must be made by persons over 18 years of age
  • Non-citizen currently employed by an overseas based employer.
  • Seconded from parent company to a Fiji Branch.
Criteria
  • Application must be filled by the Principal Applicant ONLY.
  • The Department reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required.
  • Where a question in a particular section does not apply to you, please put NONE or N/A.
  • Providing false information in this application can lead to imprisonment or a fine or both.
  • The principal applicant’s spouse and dependent children should be included in the same form (applying at the same time).
  • The application fee should be accompanied by the completed application form.
  • The applicant will be required to pay the applicable Issue and Bond Fees once the permit is approved.
Documentary Requirements

Applicant:

  • Completed and signed Application Form.
  • Certified copy of the applicant’s passport bio-data page.
  • Two (2) certified photographs.
  • Police report for the principal applicant (from the country of citizenship or residence – 1 year from the date of issue).
  • Medical Report for the principal applicant (6 months from the date of issue).
  • Signed Contract of Employment (between the company and applicant) for Secondment only.

Employer (Overseas Employer Only):

  • Request letter from the Employer (Company letterhead).
  • Signed Contract of Agreement (between the two companies).
  • Company Profile.
  • Certified copy of Company Registration.
  • Certified copy of Business Registration.
  • Certified copy of a valid Tax Compliance Certificate (from FRCS).

Dependents:

  • Two (2) recent passport-size photographs (All dependents).
  • Certified copy of Birth Certificate (All dependents).
  • Certified copy of Marriage Certificate (Spouse).
  • Police Report (Spouse) from the country of residence for the last 12 months or more (1 year from the date of issue).
  • Medical Report for All (6 months from the date of issue).
You Must:
  • Submit and adhered to as per Work Permit Overseas Employers and Secondments Documentary Requirements.
  • Submit recent photographs that are less than 6 months old. These should be of good quality, in color, and show a full-face view of your head and shoulders. The photographs should be taken against a plain or light-colored background.

  • Submit certified copies of all required documents.

  • If you have family members (spouse and children under 18 years) who are also applying, include their information on the same application form if they are applying at the same time.

  • You can lodge your application form at the nearest Fijian Immigration Office, Embassies, Fiji Consulate Offices, or you can also lodge it online by clicking here.

  • If you have non-English documents, provide translated certified copies of these documents in English. Ensure that the translation is done by a registered translator.

Application Fees : $475.35.

  • Police report for the principal applicant (from the country of citizenship or residence – 1 year from date of issue).
  • Medical Report for the principal applicant (6 months from the date of issue).
  • Signed Contract of Employment (between the company and applicant).
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae.
  • Certified copies of academic certificates.

Employer Documents:

  • Request letter from the employer on company letterhead.
  • Company Profile.
  • Certified copy of Company Registration.
  • Certified copy of Business Registration.
  • Certified copy of a valid Tax Compliance Certificate (from FRCS).

Dependents Documents:

  • Two (2) recent passport-size photographs (for all dependents).
  • Certified copy of Birth Certificate (for all dependents).
  • Certified copy of Marriage Certificate (for the spouse).
  • For New Applications for the spouse: Police Report from the country of residence for the last 12 months or more (1 year from the date of issue).
  • For Extensions: Local Police Report.
  • Medical Report for all dependents (6 months from the date of issue).
You Must
  • Submit and adhered to as per Work Permit Overseas Employers and Secondments Documentary Requirements
  • Ensure that your application is lodged one (1) month prior to the expiry date of the existing permit to allow for processing time.
  • Complete the prescribed Work Permit application form.
  • Submit recent photographs that are less than 6 months old. These should be of good quality, in color, and show a full-face view of your head and shoulders. The photographs should be taken against a plain or light-colored background.
  • Submit certified copies of all required documents.
  • If you have family members (spouse and children under 18 years) who are also applying, include their information on the same application form if they are applying at the same time.
  • It’s advisable to keep a copy of your application and all attachments for your own records.
  • If you have non-English documents, provide translated certified copies of these documents in English. Ensure that the translation is done by a registered translator.
Fees

Application Fees : $475.35

Standard application processing period is 21 working days. However, actual processing times may vary due to individual circumstances including:

  • Whether the applicant has lodged a complete application which includes all required documents;
  • Response to any requests for additional information
  • Time taken to perform required checks; and
  • Receiving additional information from external parties.
