Secondment Work Arrangement

Work Permit are issued to a non-citizen to be employed by a locally established business, organization or institution. This section gives you an overview on how to apply for a work permit for overseas employers and secondments.

IMPORTANT:

  • Employer, organisation and institution sponsoring non-citizen to work in Fiji are to ensure that all mandatory requirements for permit applications are submitted.
  • Non-submission of any of the required documents can be grounds to decline or refuse, permit applications.
  • Employment contract which includes all non-negotiable condition is a mandatory requirement. A standard sample of employment contract in accordance to the Fiji Labour laws is available on the Fiji Immigration website.
  • Employer is responsible for returning foreign workers to home country as covered in the repatriation clause of the employment contract.
  • Employers to provide evidence that content of the employment contract is understood by the foreign worker and signed by both parties.
  • Change of employment while in country is not permitted unless approve by the Immigration Department.
  • Employers to ensure applicant’s passport is valid for the duration of permit. Application with less than 6 months passport validity will not be accepted.
  • Employers to ensure secondment letter signed by the parent company is submitted with the application.
Eligibility
  • Non-citizen currently employed by an overseas based employer.
  • Non-citizen who has employment offer.
  • Application must be made by persons over 18 years of age.
Criteria
  • Application must be filled by the Principal Applicant, Employer and License Agents.
  • The Department reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required;
  • Where a question in a particular section does not apply to you please put NONE or N/A;
  • Providing false information in this application can lead to imprisonment or a fine or both;
  • The principal applicants spouse and dependent children to be included in the same form (applying at the same time);
  • Application fee on the checklist to be accompanied by the completed application form and Signed terms and conditions 
You Must:
  • Submit passport valid for three years or more;
  • Submit and adhered to as per Secondments Work Permit  Documentary Requirements.
  • Submit recent photographs that are less than 6 months old. These should be of good quality, in color, and show a full-face view of your head and shoulders. The photographs should be taken against a plain or light-colored background.

  • Submit certified copies of all required documents.

  • If you have family members (spouse and children under 18 years) who are also applying, include their information on the same application form if they are applying at the same time.

  • Lodge your application here.

  • If you have non-English documents, provide translated certified copies of these documents in English. Ensure that the translation is done by a registered translator.

Actual processing times may vary due to individual circumstances including:

  • Whether the applicant has lodged a complete application which includes all required documents;
  • Response to any requests for additional information
  • Time taken to perform required checks; and
  • Receiving additional information from external parties.
