Work Permit Application for Non-Government Organizations (International/Regional)

Work Permit issued to a non-citizen to be employed by International or Regional Non-Governmental Organisations.

This section gives you an overview on how to apply for a work permit under Non-Government Organisations both international and regional organisations.

IMPORTANT:

  • Employer, organisation and institution sponsoring non-citizen to work in Fiji are to ensure that all mandatory requirements for permit applications are submitted.
  • Non-submission of any of the required documents can be grounds to decline or refuse, permit applications.
  • Employment contract which includes all non-negotiable condition is a mandatory requirement. A standard sample of employment contract in accordance to the Fiji Labour laws is available on the Fiji Immigration website.
  • Employer is responsible for returning foreign workers to home country as covered in the repatriation clause of the employment contract.
  • Employers to provide evidence that content of the employment contract is understood by the foreign worker and signed by both parties.
  • Change of employment while in country is not permitted unless approve by the Immigration Department.
  • Employers to ensure applicant’s passport is valid for the duration of permit. Application with less than 6 months passport validity will not be accepted.
  • Secondment – Employers to ensure secondment letter signed by the parent company is submitted with the application.
  • Voluntary arrangements – Organisation or company to provide letter of engagement with the application
Eligibility
  • Non-citizen currently employed by Non-Government Organisations;
  • Non-citizen who has employment offer.
  • Application must be made by persons over 18 years of age
Criteria
  • Application must be filled by the Principal Applicant ONLY.
  • The Department reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required.
  • Where a question in a particular section does not apply to you please put NONE or N/A.
  • Providing false information in this application can lead to imprisonment or a fine or both.
  • The principal applicant’s spouse and dependent children to be included in the same form (applying at the same time).
  • Application fee to be accompanied by the completed application form.
  • Applicant will be required to pay applicable Issue and Bond Fees once the permit is approved.
Documentary Requirements

For Principal Applicant:

  1. Completed and signed Work Permit Non-Government Organizations (International/Regional) Application Form (Form No.: FID-002A).
  2. Certified copy of Applicant’s passport bio-data page.
  3. Two (2) certified photographs.
  4. Letter of Engagement.
  5. Signed Contract of Employment.
  6. Police report for Principal applicant (from country of citizenship or residence – 1 year from date of issue).
  7. Medical Report for Principal applicant (6 months from date of issue).

 

For Dependents (Spouse and Children):

  1. Two (2) recent passport size photographs (All dependents).
  2. Certified copy of Birth Certificate (All dependents).
  3. Certified copy of Marriage Certificate (Spouse).
  4. Police Report (Spouse) from country of residence for the last 12 months or more (1 year from the date of issue).
  5. Medical Report for All (6 months from the date of issue).
You Must:
  1. Submit and adhered to as per Work Permit Application for Non-Government Organisations (International/Regional) Documentary Requirements
  2. Complete prescribed Residence Permit application New/Extension
  3. Submit photographs less than 6 months old, good quality colour, full-face view of your head and shoulders and taken against a plain or light coloured background;
  4. Submit translated certified copies of all non-English documents in English (registered translator).

The Immigration Department will consider applications for the extension of permits on merit.

Eligibility
  • Existing work permit (Non-Government Organisations for International and Regional) holders.
Criteria
  1. The Department reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required;
  2. Where a question in a particular section does not apply to you please put N/A;
  3. Providing false information in this application can lead to imprisonment or a fine or both;
  4. The principal applicants spouse and dependent children can be included in the same form (if continued); and
  5. Applicant will be required to pay applicable Issue Fee once permit is approved.
Documentary Requirements
  1. Request Letter
  2. Two (2) recent passport size photographs
  3. Certified copy of passport biodata page
  4. Certified copy of current Immigration arrival stamp
  5. Latest local Bank statement (in Fijian currency)
  6. Retired Scheme Statement
  7. Police report from country of citizenship (within 1 year from date of application)
  8. Medical Report (within 3 months from date of application)


    FOR DEPENDANTS (If applicable)

  9. Two (2) recent passport size photographs for all
  10. Dependents
  11. Certified copy of birth certificates for all Dependents
  12. Certified copy of Marriage/Kinship
  13. Certificate for Spouse
  14. Police Report (Local or country of residence valid for 12months from date of application)
  15. Medical Report (valid for 3months from date of application)
  16. Application Fees
You Must:
  • Submit and adhered to as per Work Permit Application for Non-Government Organisations (International/Regional) Documentary Requirements
  • Complete prescribed Residence Permit application New/Extension
  • Submit photographs less than 6 months old, good quality colour, full-face view of your head and shoulders and taken against a plain or light coloured background;
  • Submit translated certified copies of all non-English documents in English (registered translator).

 

  • Standard application processing period is 21 working days. However, actual processing times may vary due to individual circumstances including:

    • Whether the applicant has lodged a complete application which includes all required documents;
    • Response to any requests for additional information
    • Time taken to perform required checks; and
    • Receiving additional information from external parties.
