Waiver for Biometrics for ePassport

Fiji citizens who are applying for Fiji passport may request for waiver of biometric requirements only under special circumstances as mentioned below.

Request for waiver will be on a case by case basis therefore need to waiver of biometric requirements must be clearly indicated in the request letter.

This section gives you an overview on how to apply for a waiver.

Eligibility

  1. Application can be made by a Fiji citizen under the following categories;
  • Elderly applicant (over the age of 60) unable to appear in person due to health conditions
  • Fiji citizens residing abroad where there is no Fiji High Commission or Embassy or due to circumstances such as work, health or location.
  • Applicants admitted at the hospital or with severe physical disability.

Criteria

  1. Application form must be filled by the Applicant ONLY;
  2. In the case where the applicant is unable to complete the Passport application form, a third party may complete the form and submit a completed statutory declaration form signed by a Justice of Peace (JP) OR Commissioner of Oath confirming completion of the application form on behalf of the applicant.
  • The Department reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required;
  1. Where a question in a particular section does not apply to you please put NONE or N/A;
  2. Providing false information in this application can lead to imprisonment or a fine or both;
  3. The principal applicants spouse and dependent children to be included in the same form (applying at the same time);
  • Applicant will only be required to pay applicable passport fee once waiver approval has been issued.

Required Documents

  1. Request letter (state the reason for the waiver).
  2. Passport application form (Section 22 witnessed by a JP/Commissioner for Oath), with the same witnessing officer certifying the photo.
  3. Two colored passport-size photos (measurements: 3.5cm x 4.5cm).
  4. Old passport.
  5. Certified copy of the birth certificate.
  6. Signature on a blank page.
  7. Authorization letter for a third party to lodge and collect the passport.
  8. Police Report (for lost and valid passports).
  9. Statutory Declaration form (for lost or damaged passports).
  10. Visa or residence status (if residing abroad).
  11. Normal Process fees:
  • $211.05 (expired passport/new) – 15 working days from the date of payment.
  • $422.05 (lost/Damage/Valid) – 15 working days from the date of payment.
  1. Urgent Process fees:
  • $290.15 (expired passport/new) – 3 days from the date of payment.
  • $548.65 (lost/damage/valid) – 3 days from the date of payment.

You must:-

  1. complete prescribed passport application form (Form No.:) ) click here;
  2. submit photographs less than 6 months old, good quality colour, full-face view of your head and shoulders and taken against a plain or light coloured background;
  • submit certified copies of all documents;
  1. keep a copy of your application and all attachments for your own record; and
  2. translated certified copies of all non-English documents in English (registered translator).

Application for waiver can be sent by email to [email protected] or [email protected]  or submitted to the nearest Immigration Office (Suva, Lautoka, Nadi, Labasa and Savusavu) or at the nearest Fiji Missions abroad.

Your fees may include the application, Forms, Publications & Fees (immigration.gov.fj) and applicable fees.

Application actual processing period is 5 working days. However, actual processing times may vary due to individual circumstances including:

  • whether the applicant has lodged a complete application which includes all required documents;
  • response to any requests for additional information;
  • time taken to perform required checks; and
  • receiving additional information from external parties.
