Short Term Work Permit

A Short Term Work Permit is granted to a person whose expertise is urgently needed in the country to work in Fiji for a period of one year or less. Authority is under Section 9(2)(c) of the Immigration Act, 2003.

IMPORTANT:

  • All applications are to be lodged online through the Immi Hub portal. APPLY HERE as per the checklist below
  • All payments are to be made online through MPAISA, Visa card, Master card
  • All updates on the application can be viewed through the portal
  • There is no short term to short term permit extension.
  • Short term permit will transit to a long-term work permit if company wishes to retain applicant.
  • Dependents are not applicable to short term work permits.
  • Any documentation that requires an English translation must be Notarized from their country of origin
1. OVERVIEW AND DESCRIPTION

Summary: The short-term work permit refers to an employment that is limited to one (1) year

Requirements:

Criteria

  • The Ministry reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required
  • If a question is not appliable to you, please put N/A (Not applicable)
  • Providing false information in this application can lead to imprisonment or a fine or both

Conditions

  • Be medically fit to work/reside in Fiji
  • No adverse police record

Validity: One (1) year or less

 

2. WHO CAN APPLY
  • Applicant must be a person over 18 years of age
  • Applicant should be a non-Fiji citizen
  • Registered agents may apply on behalf of the company
  • Applicants who hold Business Visitor Permit (14 days or 21 days)

 

3. WHO CANNOT APPLY
  • Applicants below 18 years of age
  • Applicants who hold a study, residence, investor or visitor permit
  • Visitor permit holders who are already in Fiji on holiday or visiting friends/families
  • Prohibited Immigrants (PI) – Overstayers [Immigration Act 2003 Part 4 Section 13 (2)(a)] and Convicted Persons from any foreign country [Immigration Act 2003 Part 4 Section 13 (2)(e)]

 

4. REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Primary Applicant

  • Certified copy of passport photo
  • National Police Report (1 year validity from date of issue) – Certified/Apostille
  • Medical report (3 months validity from date of issue) – Download Form Here
  • Certified copy of passport biodata page – must be valid more than six months.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Certified copies of Academic Qualifications
  • Terms and Conditions form (satisfaction of clauses 11 & 12) – Download Form Here
  • Employee Consent and Declaration form – Download Form Here
  • Signed Contract of Employment – Download Here

 

Employer

  • Project/Contract Agreement with relevant local authorities (if applicable)
  • Endorsement Letter from the Professional Body

Driver’s position

  • Authenticated International Driving License by the Notary Public/ Justice of Peace or the Commission of Oaths
  • Mandatory LTA full driving license and Defensive Driving Certificate to be submitted within six (06) months from the given permit to immi-permits_visa@govnet.gov.fj with permit number and applicant’s name as SUBJECT 

 

5. FEE STRUCTURE

Base Fee: FJD 650.05

Payment Methods: Online payment fee

  • Mpaisa – 2%
  • Visa Card – 2.5%
  • Master Card – 2.5%
  • BSP Debit Card – FJD 0.40

Actual processing times may vary due to individual circumstances including:

  • Whether the applicant has lodged a complete application which includes all required documents;
  • Response to any requests for additional information
  • Time taken to perform required checks; and
  • Receiving additional information from external parties.
