Internship Permit

Internship or Training Attachment permit is granted to a person to undertake internship or training at a locally approved reputable institution or organization as part of their educational or professional training. Authority is under section 9(2) (d) of the Immigration Act, 2003.

IMPORTANT:

Eligibility for New Applications
1. All documents must be submitted as per Internship Permit Documentary Requirement.
2. Approval by Institution/organization accepting Internship
3. Sponsor letter either locally or overseas from person or organization financially sponsoring whilst undertaking Internship.

Eligibility for Extension Application

1. All documents must be submitted as per Internship Permit Documentary Requirement.
2. Approval by Institution/organization accepting Internship

This applies to the following:
  • New students
  • Existing student permit holders
Criteria
  1. The Immigration department will consider application for Internship/training attachment permits on merit and on a case by case basis.
  2. The permit issued for period up to twelve (12) months.
  3. Internship and training attachment permits will only be granted to non-citizens on attachment or internship in any Government institutions, quasi-government organization and any other organization to the satisfaction and approval of the Director of Immigration
Documentary Requirements

1. Completed and signed application form.
2. Copy of the applicant’s bio-data page of the passport.
3. Two (2) passport-size photos.
4. Request letter.
5. Medical Report conducted within three (03) months or less from the date of application.
6. Police Report for applicants over 18 years old from the country of citizenship/residence.
7. Approval by the institution/organization accepting the internship.
8. Sponsor letter, either locally or overseas, from the person or organization financially sponsoring the internship.
9. Copy of return ticket.
10. Application Fees.

You Must:
  1. Complete prescribed student permit application form.
  2. Two passport size photographs less than 6 months old, good quality color, full face vie of your heads and shoulders or more in the last 10 years(less than 1 year from the date of issue).
  3. The applicant to submit copy of passport bio data page.
  4. If internship is more than six months then the applicant will need to submit Police Report.
  5. Medical Report conducted within three (03) months or less from the date of application
  6. Sponsor Letter from either locally or overseas from the person or organization financially sponsoring whilst undertaking internship.
  7. Copy of Return ticket
Fees

Application fee $328.20

The Immigration Department will consider applications for the extension of permits on merit.

Criteria

1. If application is for more than 12 months period, the applicant need to get approval from the Director of Immigration.
2. All documents must be submitted as per the Internship Permit Documentary Requirements.
3. Letter of Acceptance from the Institution or Organization.

Documentary Requirements
  1. Copy of the applicant’s bio-data page from their passport.
  2. Two (2) passport-size photographs.
  3. Applicant’s Request Letter.
  4. Local Police Report (for individuals over 18 years old who have studied for 12 months or more in Fiji).
  5. Acceptance Letter from the Institution/School.
  6. For Sponsored Students:
    • Tuvalu Gov’t Scholarship Award/Bond (if applicable).
    • Solomon Gov’t Scholarship Award (if applicable).
    • Vanuatu Gov’t Scholarship Award (if applicable).
    • Tokelau Gov’t Scholarship Award (if applicable).
    • Kiribati Gov’t Scholarship Award (if applicable).
    • Aus AID Sponsor (if applicable).
    • NZ AID Sponsor (if applicable).
  7. For Self-Sponsored Students:
    • Letter from Sponsor.
    • Copy of Confirmed Return Air Ticket/Bond.
    • Financial Statement from Sponsor (e.g., Bank Statement/Pay Slip).
  8. Letter of Support from a Local Guardian or Local Sponsor.
  9. Fees (for secondary/tertiary school students over 18 years old).
You Must:

1. Complete prescribed student permit application form.
2. Two passport size photographs less than 6 months old, good quality color, full face vie of your heads and shoulders or more in the last 10 years(less than 1 year from the date of issue).

4. Medical Report conducted within three (03) months or less from the date of application
5. Sponsor Letter from either locally or overseas from the person or organization financially sponsoring whilst undertaking internship.
6. Copy of Return ticket

Fees

Application fee $328.20

Standard application processing period is 21 working days. However, actual processing times may vary due to individual circumstances including:

  • Whether the applicant has lodged a complete application which includes all required documents;
  • Response to any requests for additional information
  • Time taken to perform required checks; and
  • Receiving additional information from external parties.
