Exemption Status for a Dual Citizen Application

This Exemption Status category is granted to a person who is a Fiji Citizen and holder of a valid foreign passport to enter, reside, study and work.

  • Applicant must be a Fiji Citizen
  • Applicant’s foreign passport must be valid upon lodgment

Criteria
  • The Department reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required.
  • Providing false information in this application can lead to imprisonment or a fine or both.
  • If approved, the exemption status will be granted until passport validity.
Documentary Requirements
  1. Request Letter
  2. Two (2) recent passport size photographs
  3. Certified copy of passport biodata page
  4. Certified copy of current Immigration arrival stamp
  5. Latest local Bank statement (in Fijian currency)
  6. Retired Scheme Statement
  7. Police report from country of citizenship (within 1 year from date of application)
  8. Medical Report (within 3 months from date of application)
  9. Copy of Vaccination Card


    FOR DEPENDANTS (If applicable)

  10. Two (2) recent passport size photographs for all
  11. Dependents
  12. Certified copy of birth certificates for all Dependents
  13. Certified copy of Marriage/Kinship
  14. Certificate for Spouse
  15. Police Report (Local or country of residence valid for 12months from date of application)
  16. Medical Report (valid for 3months from date of application)
  17. Vaccination Card for all Dependents
  18. Application Fees
You Must:
  • Submit a copy of the applicant’s valid foreign passport.
  • Submit a copy of the applicant’s Fiji Citizenship Certificate if the applicant was issued with a Citizenship Certificate.
  • Submit a copy of the applicant’s valid Fiji Passport. If the applicant was born in Fiji and does not hold a valid Fiji Passport, a copy of his/her birth certificate must be submitted.
  • Submit documentary evidence if the applicant’s name on his/her foreign passport is not the same name specified on his/her Fiji passport and/or Fiji Birth Certificate.
  • Submit a copy of the previous exemption status stamp if you are applying for an extension.
  • Submit translated certified copies of all non-English documents in English (by a registered translator).

The Immigration Department will consider applications for the extension of permits on merit.

Criteria
  1. The Department reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required;
  2. Where a question in a particular section does not apply to you please put N/A;
  3. Providing false information in this application can lead to imprisonment or a fine or both;
  4. The principal applicants spouse and dependent children can be included in the same form (if continued); and
  5. Applicant will be required to pay applicable Issue Fee once permit is approved.

You Must:
  1. Complete prescribed Residence Permit application New/Extension
  2. Submit photographs less than 6 months old, good quality colour, full-face view of your head and shoulders and taken against a plain or light coloured background;
  3. Submit translated certified copies of all non-English documents in English (registered translator).
