Exemption by Descent Order 2023

Commencement of Exemption for Persons Registered in the Vola Ni Kawa Bula and Immigration (Exemption by Descent) Order 2023

On 14 July 2023, the Immigration Act 2003 was amended by an act of Parliament to allow a person who is registered in the Vola Ni Kawa Bula (VKB) and a non–Fiji Citizen to enter, reside and work in Fiji without obtaining a permit. As announced on 13/10/2023 by the Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Hon. Pio Tikoduadua, persons registered in the VKB and holding foreign citizenship are now eligible to apply for Exemption under section 8(1)(g) of the Immigration Act 2003.

Direct Descendants of a person who was considered a Citizen of Fiji on 10/10/1970 will also be eligible to apply for Exemption. This exemption will allow a non-Fiji citizen considered to be a direct descendent to enter, reside and work in Fiji without obtaining a permit.
