Overview and description
Summary: This permit, under section 26 of the Immigration Act 2003, allows a person currently in Fiji on a valid Visitor's Permit to extend their stay before the permit expires.
Requirements
Criteria
- The Ministry reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required.
- Should a question be not applicable, please insert “N/A”.
- Providing false or misleading information may result in the refusal of the application, cancellation of an exemption, prosecution, imprisonment, a fine, or both.
Conditions
- No adverse police record
- Not to engage in any business, profession or employment
- Not to engage in any religious vocation, research or study
Validity
- Extensions are granted for a maximum of two (2) months.
- You must apply before expiry of the current permit.
- No further extension will be granted beyond this two-month period.
Who can apply
- Holders of a valid Visitor's Permit who are in Fiji for holiday/tourism purposes
- Visiting friends or relatives
- Crew of Fishing or Cargo Vessels
- Yachtees and crew
- Persons in Fiji for medical purposes
- Persons accompanying someone in Fiji for medical purposes
- Those who declared investment on arrival.
Who cannot apply
- Students on a 30-day Visitor's Permit
- Holder of business visitors permit.
- Holders of any other type of Permit apart from those listed under Who can apply.
- Prohibited Immigrants (PI) – Overstayers [Immigration Act 2003 Part 4 Section 13 (2)(a)]
Required documentation
Documents to gather before applying:
- Passport photo must be taken within 3 months prior to the application date
- Passports must have a minimum of 6 months validity remaining
- Request letter (required for all applicants, sponsored or self-funded)
- Proof of funds — bank statement, proof of cash on hand, or other disposable funds (if sponsored by family/relatives, their proof of funds and valid ID as well)
- Proof of accommodation — hotel remittance or a support letter if staying with family/friends
- ID of sponsor (if sponsored by a relative or friend)
- Confirmed return ticket — must be dated within 2 months from the expiry of the current Visitor's Permit (bookings/reservations not accepted)
- Copy of arrival stamp
- Parental consent (if applicant is a minor travelling without parents/legal guardian)
- Medical certificate (if the reason for extension is on medical grounds)
- Any documentation that requires an English translation must be translated and notarized
- All documents are to be certified, notarized by a Notary Public, Commissioner of Oaths or Lawyer
